Almond Milk

DIY Almond Milk

If you are looking for a high protein alternative to cows milk then try this recipe for Almond milk.It really is so easy to make at home and absolutely delicious!

Almond milk

You will need:

100g raw almonds (skins on) and about 1 litre of filtered water.

Rinse the almonds well, cover with water and soak overnight.

Once the skins pop off you know they are ready. Simply pick up a nut & give it a squeeze.

You can either remove the skins or leave them on, the difference is in the flavour.

The milk tends to be more mellow with skins on.

Pop the nuts and 500ml of water into a blender and mix. Add more water to taste.

Then pour the mixture through muslin or a fine sieve and set the grounds aside.

The milk & grounds will keep in the fridge for a couple of days and is seriously worth the effort!

Ps: the grounds are lovely mixed into yoghurt & fruit for brekkie, I've added them to pancake batter, to protein bars & to my home-made granola. The options are endless & they are tasty, full of fibre and goodness, so use them rather than binning them.
